I wanted to create an animation about the tragedies around the world but I realize there are to many so I chose one I care most about, The ocean and the pollution that is consuming it. There is a global goal to reach net zero by 2050. Net zero refers to achieving a balance between the amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced and the amount removed from the atmosphere.
I decided to focus my animation on micro-plastic and how it is created. I did some research and found that micro-plastic is created when single use plastic waste is or isn't disposed of properly and winds up on the beach where it gets swept into the shore line Here it begins to grind against the shore line rocks and break into micro-plastic pieces which the fish and plankton consume. Here is a PSA that fallows a day in the life of a single use plastic water bottle to help educated people and take a step to achieving the net zero goal.

Process
My initial process began with writing out the story line and then a script to go with it just to organize the sequence. Following that, I condensed the story and chose a key topic to drive the story which turned into a no script narrative.
1) it was made in a factory
2) shipped to a store
3) Bought by a consumer
4) Travels to destination with consumer
5) Partly consumed
6) Taken home
7) Consumed and refilled
8) Travels to the beach
9) Consumes the rest
10) Gets thrown on top of the full trash
11) There it sits and sits
12) Its starts to get windy and rainy
13) the wind blows the bottle out of the trash can
14) the rain washes the trash into the ocean
15) Circles the shore line
16) breaks up into micro plastic
17) Gets eaten by fish
18) and we eat the fish.
The Idea for this project was to be mostly 2D with the water bottle looking more 3D to create contrast and emphasis on the bottle and situation at hand. These are the different 2D/3D look development I went through to land with the final look.

References
I referenced this short no script narrative animation called the Little Boat. It was a short animation film that would follow the journey of this little boat. The story was told with the environment and the condition of the boat. Utilizing this form of story telling I was able to tell the story about the day in the life of a plastic water bottle.
